Black Sox Almost Perfect: Win (8-3) vs. Padres
by Lee County Black Sox (Open Division)

The Lee County Black Sox moved within one game of becoming the second team in league history to run the table and go 12-0 during the regular season, and the first team to do so since 2005. It would be the first time a team has accomplished the feat with a league of more than 3 full-time teams. They are currently extending the longest winning streak in league history (17 games). Mix in last season's 11-1 record and 2009 Spring Championship, and the Black Sox are quickly building a claim as the best team in league history. This game would not be decided until the late innings, with John Belcastro's pitching and Kelvin Jimenez' homerun keeping the Padres within one run through the middle innings. Matt Vorwald pitched through 6 innings, allowing the Padres 3 runs on 8 hits. He would also twist the dagger that put the Padres away, going deep with a 3-run shot to set the final score. Vorwald was 2-3 with a walk, run, SB and 4 RBI. Jason Guy paced the Sox with a perfect 4-4 day, scoring once while providing entertainment on the bases. Guy is making a strong push for team MVP, leading the team in OPS, runs, hits, doubles, triples, games, at bats, and plate appearances, while currently second in RBI, SLG, and Batting Avg. Justin Cook parlayed a hit, a HBP, and a walk into 3 runs on the day. Tommy Watkins also picked up a pair of hits. Ryan Millican picked up a save in relief, with 3 very solid innings of work to close out the game. Millican only gave up 2 hits, picking up 2 strikeouts without issuing a free pass, and extending his scoreless inning streak.
