| On a great weather day for baseball, the revamped Ft Myers Cardinals showed up on opening day and proved that they will be a force to reckon with this season. Missing a few key starters, the Cards showed they could play excellent defense, and still put 11 runs on the board despite being shorthanded.
Joe Costanzo, the Cardinals opening day starter for 4 seasons in a row, took the hill and turned in another quality start. Costanzo threw 6 innings of 3 hit, 4 run ball while striking out 5.
Evan P. Went 2-3 with two doubles two HBP and an RBI.
The game was deadlocked at 1, when in the 5th inn wih runners on the corner and 2 outs, Justin Clerico hit an RBI single to break the tie and the Cardinals never looked back from there, going on to score 2 more times in the inning and 7 more times in the game.
The Angels rallied in the 8th and final inning but the Cards were able to hold on for the W
