BOMBS AWAY on a SUNNY DAY!
by Southern Yankees (28+ Division)

Reidy Oliva & Ken Silberling hit home run bombs as the Southern Yankees outslugged the resilient & league win leaders; Perrine Monarchs 15-12. A back and forth well played game transpired as both sides jockeyed for position throughout the contest. In the beginning @ gametime the Monarchs were short a couple ballplayers so we filled in for 2 innings till the real sluggers showed up. And boy did they. Monarchs starting pitcher Eric Enriguez was a monster with two home runs off Yankee pitching - one a grand slam that erased the Yankees 9-5 lead in the 7th inning. With the score 10- 9 Monarchs in the eighth, the Southern Yankees would tie it on a wild pitch. With the score 10 apiece the Monarchs batted in the bottom of the 8th and plated 2 runs to take a 12-10 lead going into the 9th and final inning. But the Southern Yankees bats were up for the dramatic finish as we had 5 hits in the final frame, some heady baserunning and a defensive miscue to storm back with 5 runs of our own to take a 15-12 lead. Its amazing how something as elementary as putting the ball in play and hustle can cause all kinds of positive results. Franklin de la Rosa closed it out for starter Franklin Brito who pitched into the eighth inning in another good effort on a hot beautiful day @ the ballpark. As far as the Southern Yankees offense, Sam Bartoletta put on a hitting clinic with 4 ropes and also decided to go for the daily double by throwing would be basestealers from his knees numerous tiMes in also putting on a catching clinic 4 all to see. He is in a class all by himself and is tearing up the league this Spring/Summer season. A great win and comeback by the Southern Yankees who are a different team altogether when all the moving parts collectively are on the field to expose their various talents and athleticism. German Octavo ,Joey Darelli and Ken Silberling all collected two hits to lead the balanced Southern Yankees 16 HIT attack. The 9th inning flair for the dramatic; as is our custom, was once again evident & was a BIG part in the outcome of the Southern Yankees baseball game. Everyone came through in the last inning when it was clutch and we needed to get on base against all star and tough pItcher Chaz Lemone. Hats off to Charlie/ Chaz and the entire Perrine Monarchs team as it was a pleasure playing you. G ood luck in the playoffs and we look forward to seeing you again down the road. It turned out to be a very fun and exiting game played by both sides. The Southern Yankees look forward to continuing the season next week vs the Miami Black Bats @ Northeast in FT Lauderdale. Great win ballplayers & lots of fun today. STAY THIRSTY MY FRIENDS!
