Pitching duel for the ages! ....more to follow ....The Southern Yankees and Kendall Mets both scored lone runs in the 7th inning and we ended in a 1-1 tie. Southern Yankees pitcher Eric Judd and 29 year old stud Andrew Smiley for the Kendall Metz had a pitching duel that we will never forget. Smiley was completely dominant with 18 strikeouts and he K'd the side 3 times! Meanwhile Judd gave up just 3 hits and struck out 6 while giving up only one run. Reidy Oliva pitched the last three for the Yankees and struck out 3 more Mets. So 18 strikeouts by Mets pitching and 9 by Yankees made it an exciting and unique game with little offense and tremendous defense by both sides. Both teams played flawless defensively and it was an extreme battle to the end. Reidy Oliva smoked 3 hits for the Southern Yankees and Bobby Esposito smacked two to lead the subdued offense. We went against the top pitcher in the league and he was Chris Sale-like with a long lanky delievery and tremendous movement on his pitches. Hats off to Smiley and to ex- Yankee Montgomery Sheikhan who clubbed two hits for the Kendall Metz. We face the talented & very tough Broward Indians at 930 AM this coming Sunday April 15th @ meticulous Sugar Sand Park in Boca Raton. Thank you for your time this time until next - and Always Remember to Stay Thirsty My Friends!

The Yankees came to play Sunday and battle the Metz all day long. The Yankees defense made several great plays that didn't allow the Metz to blow the game open. Andrew Smiley pitched a complete game striking out 18 batters ,didn't allowed an earned runs only gave up 4 hits , but the Metz also didn't hit getting only 4 hits themselves. Tough tie for both teams
