Luck of the Iguana: A dog fight that finished in a tie our last outing continued onto this game. Upon arrival at the ballpark, the first battle began over which ball club would get the dugout that would not face the sun, that battle was won by the Nationals due to there dedicated early arriving Captain. Once on the ball field players immediately spotted on the netted back stop behind home plate was a beautiful Green Iguana who appeared to be sunbathing with the early beautiful sunrise. Both clubs did not appear to be distracted by the Iguana over looking the field as the offense began early right where it left off from our previous encounter. Nationals struck first in the top of the first immediately scoring 2 runs. Red Sox would answer early in the bottom half of the inning scoring 3 runs to close out the first inning. By the end of the 4 inning, the offense battle was still going but by this time the Iguana had now disappeared into the friendly shadows of Flamingo Park. Nationals would gain a late lead and go up 8-7 into the final inning. In the Red Sox final at bat, 2 early base runners got on base due to walks which would allow Red Sox Catcher JC to get a clutch bloop base hit into Right Field scoring both runs and leaving the Nationals on the field. Both Teams played a great game. Great offense, great defense and great base running by both teams. Hats off to the Nationals and good luck until we meet again. Wherever you are Mr. Iguana, thank you for the luck you provided us. Ralph - Red Sox Press Secretary
