| RUNNING DOWN A DREAM |

| Many of you know if you have read any of the color commentarries in the past seasons that riding around in the breeze listening to Tom Petty with the stereo blasting always gets me pumped up. You may recall last seasons reference to the traveling Wilburys and the end of the line theme. Well the Southern Yankees are at the end of the line in tje standings after two games with another disappointing gift wrapped loss. This week the Southern YANKEES decided to work on their own mystery like the song says in an embarrassing defeat. The Yankees committed some unfortunate baserunning blunders and were upended by the talented MIAMI Cardinals 10-7. A blown quad muscle on a steal derailed a big inning early in the game. Then later on with traffic on base, a Southern Yankees runner was inexplicably picked off first base by a lefty no less with the team down 3 runs late in rally mode. Thus running down a dream. This once again hurt the team offensively as we cant give away outs. Plus midway in the game on a taylor made double play ball was thrown away when that play is made 9 out of ten times by our talented infielder. So once again we self destructed and didnt hit for beans. aFTER last years stellar 10-2 season with a loss to the mighty Dade Nationals in the cHAMPIONSHIP GAME THE sOUTHERN YANKKES begin the new 24 season winless and at the bottom of the standings. Hats off to Tony Blanco and his talented squad as he kept the Yankees off balance all day with an assortment of pitches. Reidy Olivo led the Yankees with 3 hits and Tony Cotrich really helped the Cardinals with the trifecta of hits also in the game. |
