Southern Yankees play complete all around game
by Southern Yankees (28+ Division)

The Southern Yankees played a complete all around baseball game and cruised over the Deerfield White Sox 12-4 on an absolutely fabulous 75 degree beautiful blue sky day at new venue Sugar Sand Park. Franklin Brito went the distance giving up only 3 earned runs to get the victory. Brito wiggled his way out of jams with the help of a spectacular airborne catch in center field by Eric Judd who layed out in mid air and snow cone'd a bomb hit in the gap. Page Six has reported that ESPN is looking for the tape of the play for viewing. Chris Bartzokis made a tumbling sprawling catch also in left field as the team got great piching, defense and hitting which all but assures a victory. All in all the Southern yANKEES played flawless defense until a meaningless error in the infield in the 9th inning. Hector Perez and Keith Litwak flashed some serious satelite leather in the infield to keep the White Sox off the basepaths. Ken Silberling led the Southern Yankees attack with three hits and Joe Darelli and Eric Judd smacked two hits apiece. Hugo Gutierrez played flawlessly at 3B and drove in two runs along with Judd. The big blow came from Hector Perez who's bases loaded double cleared the bases and broke the game wide open.Chris Bartzokis was on base 4 times and Sam Bartoletta called all the right pitches and was on base 3 times. The Southern Yankees scattered 13 hits along with 8 free passes to score double digit runs again. 8 of the 10 Southern Yankees batters in the lineup got hits and it would have been 9 if 3rd base coach Skip hadn't gotten in the number 5 hitters earhole & head early & often throughout the game and rendered him useless. Its like old times again in the Southern Yankees dugout! But every game different players have stepped up. Those of us that delivered in earlier season games were picked up this time by teammates today who all of a sudden have gotten hot bats and indeed at the right time. This remains a team game and the Southern Yankees knew they had to step up without Reidy and John Ramos in the lineup. But the cast of characters delivered -especially Kenny Silberling who has regained his nasty form and is terrorizing opposing pitching staffs. Frank Crupi had a confidence building big at bat against the young flamethrower from the White sox and lined a bullet thru the hole on an 0-2 pitch to drive in a run. Each and every one of you will have to continue to pick up your teammates as we seek the final playoff spot. The rotation of clutch performers on this talented & deep Southern Yankees roster will have to continue to play out in the coming final game if we are to reach the playoffs. We now see what happens when we have balance in the lineup and not rely exclusively on our big sluggers each & every game to produce. A fantastic win and we look for the return of some of our missing parts this coming Sunday at Lynn University field. Hats off to Player/Manager Manny and Steve Wulf and the entire White sox squad. You have a monster in CF/P Will with his Sturm Ruger pistol for an arm. He has huge upside & should be starting on the mound for a look see along with shortstop Jordan pitching a few innings- you should easily win your next games. We wish you the best whatever you do and you play the game right. The Southern Yankees look to remain in the playoff hunt as they face the always tough and archrival Davie Tigers . Ray Sanabria has been a consistent Yankees killer for some time with his assortment of moving pitches and sneaky fastball so our team will look forward to the challenge this coming week against the crafty veteran & the Manager Dave Carnavales tough Tiger squad. We look forward to the opportunity after winning 4 of our last 5 games to get the chance to possibly secure a playoff spot and continue this fun exciting season. STAY THIRSTY MY FRIENDS!
