Bad day at the ball park...
by Deerfield White Sox (28+ Division)

The only nice thing to report was the weather..

Southern Yankees return to form
by Southern Yankees (28+ Division)

The Southern Yankees scored early and often and cruised to a 12-1 victory over the Deerfield White Sox. On a spectacularly beautiful day @ the ballpark with temperatures in the high 70s both squads were eager to begin the 2014 campaign after the recent holiday recess. The Southern Yankees erupted for 6 runs in the opening inning and led 6-0 after two innings. Eric Judd was masterful on the mound as he pitched a fabulous game giving up only one run and 4 hits to the White Sox lineup. Judd made it look easy as he mowed the lineup down and Reidy Oliva pitched a 123 inning to close out the victory. The Southern Yankees added 6 more runs in the middle innings and cruised the rest of the game. Sam Bartoleta had two hits and was stellar behind the plate with no one stealing any bases for the White Sox. The anthesis of the lack of running game of the White Sox was the uptempo aggressive game plan the Southern Yankees employed. Ray Asmar swiped two bases and contributed two hits along with Bartoletta to lead the Yankees offensive attack. The Southern Yankees stole 4 bases in total and put on the brakes as the game got out of hand early. Hugo Guttierez and Hector Perez hit booming doubles in the winning effort. Reidy Oliva, Hugo guttierez and Hector Perez had 2 RBI apiece in the Southern Yankees 11 hit barrage. All in all we stole 4 bases and played flawless defense in the field. White Sox pitcher Jordan who came on in relief was clocked throwing 88MPH and was extremely talented with his young arm. Hats off to Steve wulf & the rest of the White Sox for the rest of the season. A resounding win and the Southern Yankees look to continue with that momentum this week against the extremely tough and top team in the league. Stay thirsty my friends!
