Not Pitcher perfect
by Southern Yankees (28+ Division)

When the Southern Yankees starting pitcher mysteriously no showed along with other players; everything changed. In our contest with the South Florida Reds we fell short offensively and it resulted in blowout game- score of 19-7- our worst defeat this season. The very talented Reds battery kept the Southern Yankees offense bogged down as the Yankees could only manage six hits and were shut down most of the game especially in the early innings. Both teams fielded just 9 players on this warm Sunday afternoon and the field was in surpringly good condition after Saturdays rainfall. Not many highlights this week for the Southern Yankees. John Ramos and Sam Bartoletta led the team with two hits apiece and German Octavo (4rbi) and Reidy 0liva hit home runs bombs in a valiant effort by our shorthanded team. We managed 9 walks but just couldnt get timely hits. Leaving many baserunners in scoring position is a surefire way to be on the wrong end of the score board. Bartoletta was stellar behind the plate and kudos to our 9 teammates along with emergency pitchers Hector, John and Reidy who battled all game on the hot afternoon. Hats off 2 the Reds , always enjoy playing your talented squad and good luck in the playoffs. We look to regroup this week with an early 10 AM game at Sunset Park ON sUNDAY 8/11. Hopefully we will rebound and play an even more competitive game as we have in the past with a full squad. We had 7 players show up 4 practice Saturday morning at 830 am but 3 of them couldnt make the game dUE to emergencies. Remember its not about getting knocked down as the 19-7 score indicates- its how high you bounce after you get knocked down. We look for the Southern Yankees to return to form with a talented squad in this weekends game. We have 3 of the top ten hitters in the South Florida BASEball League league in Reidy, Sam and Whilmer Flores (whos twin is leading the Pacific Coast League in batting). So don't get discouraged about this game ballplayers. It happens & Franklin will resurface this weekend along with others.!!!Stay thirsty my friends!
