Are you kidding?

We came up on the short end. this was definately a slugfest between two old rivals. An exiting game with a lot of offense by the Miami Black bats & the Southern Yankees. Pitching was at a premium in this contest, the Southern Yankees had 16 hits and the Black Bats 21 in an offensive contest that went down to the last at bat. the outcome of the game could have been in our favor if we caught a a hit or two in the holes preventing a couple runs. not many miscues, sharp well placed hits by both teams and a nail biting finish made this an enjoyable game to be part of. six of the Southern Yankees hitters had multiple hits with Hugo Gutierez going 3-3 and a big double. John Ramos was 3-4 with 4 rbi and a HR as he has returned to form after injuries had limited his season. Sam MVP Bartoletta slugged a mammoth HR also to lead the Southern Yankees attack. The team showed its usual fortitude and fighting spirit throuhout the game especially in the last inning.. down 17-11 late in the contest the Southern Yankees scored 5 times to make the score 17-16 after numerous clutch hits and ABs. Hugo, Reidy & Ramos doubled in that inning and with the bases loaded and a chance to win the game on the line a strikeout ended the slugfest which left the Southern Yankees one run short of a fantastic comeback. A dissapointing loss which ends our playoff hopes but another fun game as always played against the Black bats. It was exiting to the last pitch. submitted by Jerry Wichert southern yankees
