Like the fabulous Lenny Kravitz song “It ain’t over till it’s over “ the Dade Nationals again edged the Southern Yankees in a see saw great battle to the very end. More to follow…. Ok- sorry it took so long this week to write the color commentary but Dow Jones and the Fed kept me extra busy keeping a read on things. So many of you should groove to the fabulous classic song previously mentioned at the top. For full effect open up another window on your computer while your reading this, crank it up to 69/70 decibels and enjoy the beat lyrics and mini orchestra. You will be jiving to the song in no time . Drum roll to start interesting never knew that so let it play - get in the mood while you read this and you surely won't be disappointed! Well the Southern Yankees were singing 'here were still together so much time wasted playing games with love'. The two rivals respectfully matched up in another classic contest that was decided late. . Many of you can relate to how things can change in an instant . You know how life can go sweet in one direction for you then turn challenging the following week. For many of you who have been reading the color commentary over the years, you know we tell it like it is but always inspire & encourage you 'to not give up and always work things out' just like the lyrics in the song say. Anyone who is on top or has been handed everything without facing any adversity will find out eventually that 'it ain't over till its over'. I have always been a proponent of the little guy or underdog or the the one who has 'So much tears and pain inside' but continues to battle. Things will always work out as long as you get back in the batters box of life and again take your cuts. You get the message and if you don't you can always go online at all the previous commentaries and my message will certainly strike a chord in your world. The Southern Yankees have had many many classic games with the 8 time champion Dade Nationals with 49 out of 50 games being decided by two runs or less. Well hats off to the talented Nats and their veteran Player/Manager Jorge Orbeta Sr. AS HE RALLIED THE TEAM TO a 10-9 win over the SoUthern Yankees. Both teams were shorthanded in the triple digit heat but everyone persevered and came out AOK after the see saw tight game. so here we are 'STILL TOGETHER' and hope to see the Nats down the road in the playoffs. The Yankees like you all should will' keep the love alive' like the song says and continue to play on and despite all the pain inside after 'so many years we've tried' to get that championship. HATS OFF To SOUTHERN YANKEES battery mates Melvn Martinez and Sam Bartoletta who were dealing stellar performances all game. Yudiel Popu ,Juan Bautista and Jorge Orbeta jr led the Nats with 2 hits apiece. For the Yankees Melvyn Martinez & Vinny Zarella smacked 3 hits apiece to lead the team. Eric Judd and Steve Sandman slapped 2 apiece . The Yankees led 7-5 after 5 but the Nationals rallied with 5 runs late to get the win. Another fantastic game and again hats off to all the players involved in the tight battle. Good luck to the Nats the rest of the season not that you need any the way you are playing- and we hope we get the opportunity to play you again as anything can happen in the big dance . There is a long way to go this season and again remember IT AINT OVER TILL ITS OVER in life and on the field of play. Lenny was a Yogi fan that's why he wrote the song. I know it took 2 hours to compose this and about 17 times playing the catchy tune in another window. And I still gotta find more time to input the stats and marinate some ice -cubes! Anyhow and in closing- Gotta love the acustic guitar solo and drum roll. Enough said - you think its easy writing this color commentary for your amusement every week? LOL - SO next time someone THROWS shade on you- make sure you tell yourself 'It aint over till its over' and make them eat their words. You have what it takes remember that. The Southern Yankees face off against their crosstown rivals the Boca Mets this Sunday July 30th @ 9:30 AM . We hope to get back to our winning ways and 'WORK THINGS OUT' LIKE THE SONG SAYS . It will be against a much improved and tough Mets squad led by all-stars flamethrower Julio HERNANDEZ & Player/Manager Mike HERZNER . Thank you for your time this time until next time and always remember to 'Stay thirsty my friends' SUBMITTED BY RAY ASMAR JR. PLAYER/MANAGER SOUTHERN YANKEES |
