| It was fitting that the Black Sox won their 18th straight FMBL game against the team that previously shared the league-best streak of 17 games. The All Stars were a worthy opponent, coming out to the park with a gang of fans and unsurpassed energy in their effort to tarnish the Sox record. However, the Sox would not be stopped, and completed the first perfect season in FMBL history with a league of more than 3 teams.
All Star pitchers Matt Mariani and John Emmons kept away from big innings, only allowing 9 total hits on the day. However, the Sox were able to put together enough to put 10 runs on the board with timely hits. Team MVP Jason Guy finished off his stellar regular season, leading the team as the only player with 2 hits while walking twice, and Randy Summerall was the only Black Sox player with 2 RBI. Jesse Grinstead and Matt Vorwal each had RBI doubles. Justin Cook and Christian Martinez provided run support, walking 3 and 2 times respectively and scoring twice each.
On the mound, Matt Vorwald picked up his league-record 9th win in a 5-inning start, picking up 5K to push his season total to 79 (2nd all-time). Ryan Millican earned his team-best 3rd save with 4 innings and 4K. Each allowed just a single earned run each.
The Black Sox take their 12-0 record to the FMBL Championship on February 28th, where they will face the winner of the Padres/Hitmen semi-final in a best of 3 series. Last season, the Black Sox defeated the Hitmen 2-0 to take the title. If the Black Sox prevail this season, it would be the first time a team has won back-to-back titles.
